Battle of Britain: Celtic v Arsenal


If ever there was a list of the most awaited 3rd Qualifying Round of the Champions League clashes, this one surely belongs up there with the best. Celtic is set to host Arsenal for their first ever European meeting. Both teams are in the back of their victory in the opening day of their respective leagues.

Celtic comes into this match with an aggressive flair and their trust on the home crowd who, we all know, can come crucial on such match. While Stephen McManus is definitely out, fellow defender Glenn Loovens is also an injury doubt.
Arsenal however, have a few more injury problems. Rosicky, Nasri, Djourou, Walcott and Fabianski are all still out. However, Fabregas, Denilson, and Sagna are all a doubt for tomorrow and will all face fitness. Howevr, on a more positive note, Diaby will be available.

Arsenal come into this match believing as well that the crowd is key and feel in they can come home with a victory. Kick-off is 19:45 GMT time tomorrow.

March 8 2006, Arsenal 0-0 Real Madrid

The best 0-0 you'll ever see. It was the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League. Chances at both ends and goalkeepers at top form. Both Lehmann and Casillas making superb saves. But on 90 minutes, Arsenal celebrate because they've won the tie by an aggregate score of 1-0, thanks to the virtuoso goal by Thierry Henry at the Barnebau.

February 22 2003, Man City 1-5 Arsenal

Arsenal went five points clear of Man Utd that day as they showed no mercy to Man City. Bergkamp, Pires, Henry, and Campbell scored in the first 20 minutes. Vieira added another right after the break and Anelka scored a mere consolation afterwards.
